Abstract
In the complex society of VUCA, individuals without design expertise will be required to address problems that lack a clear solution, so called “Wicked Problems”. This study examines the potential of “Service Design Pattern Language” as a method to assist non-design experts in tackling such challenges by themselves, by acquiring behavior of design. Service Design Pattern Language captures the implicit knowledge of service designers who work on problems without clear solutions and transforms it into patterns. In current design education, mentoring and facilitation by experts are often necessary to develop the behaviors for design. However, if Service Design Pattern Language can be utilized, it will be possible to achieve this effectively without relying on experts. To test this, a workshop utilizing "Service Design Pattern Language" was designed and the effects were evaluated. As a result, it was confirmed that by incorporating the patterns into the introduction and review of the workshop, participants were able to utilize the patterns to enhance and acquire behavior toward design.
