Abstract
Design research has been increasingly concerned with behavioural changes for emerging sustainable processes. This article, which has as a research question "How can Slow Design contribute to the valorization of local identities in sustainable processes?", presents Slow Design as a contributor to Social Innovation, in order to valorize the local identity of the communities, which are involved with authorial production. A Narrative Bibliographical Review methodology was carried out, combined with the ResearchGate, CAPES Periodical and Google Scholar databases, related to the strings "Slow Design" AND "Design for Sustainability" and also with the strings "Slow Design" AND "Design and Territory". Such search resulted in the absence of material about this theme, realising the possibility of stimulating further research because of the relationship that already exists between the concepts and the need to relate them. It is possible to obtain a reflection about the identity process for the communitarian productions, adding value to the artisan co-production, due to being a path that ascends to what the group has of vernacular knowledge in combination with emerging technology, aiming the production, most of the times with a focus on generating income and developing the environment in which the community is inserted. The results point to Slow Design as a contributor to new directions in sustainable behaviour, uniting production processes with Design for Sustainability, acting in favour of Social Innovation, being used as a way to highlight the characteristics that make the local identity unique.
