Abstract
This paper is based on the developments of an interdisciplinary research project (government funded, 2019-23) investigating the correlations between people and responsive environments. By staging different characteristics of Ubiquitous Computing in an interactive installation and evaluating them with participants, we aim to gain insights into human perception and behavior towards embedded sensor actuator systems. The design approach is based on strategies of New Media Arts and Speculative Design. By evaluating 50 subjects with a mixed-methods approach, techno-social contexts and issues such as sense-making, agency, and attitude are explored. The focus of this paper is on the development and impact of the immersive scenes, the underlying narratives, and the ethical questions it raises.
