Abstract
The appearance of high-speed trains can affect the perception of high-speed railways. Hence, pedigree construction has become an important part of high-speed rail development. Due to the influences of various brands on the shape design of high-speed trains in China, the appearance of China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation (CRRC) models lacks its own family style. As China is now developing 450 km/h high-speed trains, a unified design strategy for the pedigree construction of CRRC trains needs to be established. In this study, a pedigree feature parameterization-based design method for high-speed trains was developed. Firstly, the similarity between the head shapes of different CRRC trains was calculated. By comparing the distribution of areas with high similarity between different series, the head shapes were divided into four types of feature areas. Then, the control parameters of the features in each area were defined based on comprehensive modelling analysis. By fitting the values of these parameters in each speed stage through binomial regression, four trend lines were obtained, and the value of each parameter in the next stage was predicted. This method was applied to the Shinkansen models, and the deviations between the predicted and actual values were assessed. The results show that this method enables parametric train shape prediction based on family pedigree characteristics. Finally, by using this shape parametric prediction method, an ‘extraction-prediction-generation’ integrated head shape generation system was established, providing reference information for the pedigree construction and strengthening the family style of high-speed trains in China.
