Abstract
This qualitative research aimed to compare students’ experiences during face-to-face and remote co-creative design processes to understand empathy formation. The participants who have various remote co-creative design processes, in the International Summer Design Workshop (ISDW) 2022, as the face-to-face co-creative design process held at Chiang Mai University, Thailand. Interview results were analyzed using the evaluation grid method to visualize the characteristics of the remote and face-to-face co-creation processes. The remote co-creation process had the advantages of location efficiency, scalability, and ease of information storage and sharing with various support systems using IT. On the other hand, in the face-to-face co-creation process, the formation of a sense of unity due to the ease of information transmission facilitated the creation of empathy by the members being together. The author concludes by discussing how the results can be applied to the Double Diamond design model.
