Abstract
With the introduction of the concept of Pervasive Augmented Reality (PAR), the integration of virtual content with the real world is gradually transitioning from simple image overlay to dynamic, omnipresent, and continuous interactive experiences. In this context, we propose the PLP-Exhibits framework, which is based on spatial Geometric Primitives (points, lines, and planes) and constructs a adaptive layout framework. This framework aims to provide a dynamic design space that adapts to both user behavior and spatial environments for user interface design in exhibition settings. By treating shifts in user position as a trigger mechanism for changes in the interface state, the framework offers a more natural and seamless interactive experience. The framework is grounded in an extensive literature review of adaptive design space and dynamic user interface theories, combined with a survey of adaptive UI requirements conducted with 10 users in exhibition environments. Additionally, insights from 10 experts on dynamic adaptation and response mechanisms in mixed reality were gathered through workshops. Finally, scholars from relevant fields, recruited through campus outreach, validated the feasibility and effectiveness of the PLP-Exhibits framework in practical applications from both system functionality and user experience perspectives. The PLP-Exhibits framework offers new directions for the intelligent, human-centered development of layout design in mixed reality environments for future designers.
