Abstract
This paper explores the development of scaffolding tools, specifically a card template, to support high school teachers and students in human-centered design (HCD) problem-based learning challenges. Drawing on research-supported design principles, we present a versatile template that can be used to create cards that can support students as they work on design challenges. We demonstrate the use of the template to create cards that can facilitate high school students’ engagement in design challenges that apply math and design to address social justice issues. We present our plans for prototyping the design and use of these cards with teachers and students in K-12 settings.
